The client wanted to see how would the room look like when keeping the original cupboard and when removing it.

The client wanted to use a bold purple in the chimney recess, and the rest of the room had to be neutral.

With such a strong colour keeping the balance was important. On the picture with the original cupboard, this is achieved by using a strong colour for the curtains.
